October 9, 2019 @ 19:45 - 22:00

- £13 – £15

Maskerade by Elderado Musical Productions comes to Bob Hope Theatre from  9 to 12 October.
Directed by self-confessed Terry Pratchett superfan Simon Clifton, this will be one for the cult author’s many fans, but its musical theme and Phantom jokes make it one for musical theatre buffs as well. Simon directed the marvellous Guards! Guards! in 2014, so we know his form is true to the spirit of Discworld. The set is brilliant, the costumes live up to Discworld mythology, and Will Hawkes has created some spectacular props.
The two witches Granny Weatherwax (Andree Jordan) and Nanny Ogg (Jan Ho) head to Ankh-Morpork to recruit Agnes Nitt (Sarah Pinel) to their coven and receive the money due for Nanny’s cookbook but they stumble into a murderous plot at the Opera House reminiscent of Phantom of the Opera. Agnes is a chorus member and when the Opera House Ghost begins committing murders, and demanding that the less talented Christine (Kristine Brett) be given the lead, Agnes has to sing from the wings to cover for her. Who is the Opera House Ghost? Agnes thinks it is Walter Plinge (Ben Guindi) but no-one believes her. And if it is Walter, is he the baddy he appears? Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg are just the witches to solve the plot.
