November’s SEnine magazine is here to brighten a gloomy day. Another 40 pages of news, features and events on life in SE9.
A bumper 48-page SEnine is out now with latest news of the fate of Mecca Bingo, Avery Hill and a visit by the ‘First Lady of Ladybird Books’ as part of this year’s Elthamread festival.
On Avery Hill, the ‘SAVE Avery’ campaign is holding a public meeting on Monday 21 October to hear concerns about plans for a new boys secondary school on the site, to be held at Crown Woods at 7.30pm
A fabulously packed edition for the end of the summer… featuring stories on the traffic noise above our homes – and plans for London City Airport to increase the number of flights. On a brighter note, the cover shows how an old car can be put to good use as a vehicle for charity… read about it inside too. Lots of other news inside as well as features on local film talent, bell ringers and street parties – plus the ever-popular SPY and Jane’s Jottings.
Another victory for New Eltham blind rights campaigner, Dr Amit Patel! Eltham Station is to have tactile paving installed by Spring next year, together with 18 other locations. Currently the paving is only on part of the ‘down’ line platform. Dr Patel raised the problem with Network Rail, who have since surveyed all locations where it is missing. His campaigning has also won a promise of the return of the High Street pelican crossing between Lidl and Next.
