CYCLE HIRE STATIONS: Coming to a street near you.

RBG are consulting on the following locations in SE9.

Any comments by 28 October to email: transport-programmedelivery-tmos@royalgreenwich.gov.uk

The council has already rolled out 29 stations, mainly in Greenwich, for use by Lime and Forest. The number was reduced from a proposed 55 on a one-year trial after comments from residents.

Both operators pay for the provision and use of the stations, making them another revenue source.

However, 'dumping' of the bikes across footpaths has angered residents, particularly disabled and partly-sighted people, unable to navigate a way past.

Latterly, councillors have started to talk tough with the operators and councils elsewhere have taken direct action by confiscating abandoned cycles and charging for their return. The operators have promised a two-hour removal response to complaints, using residents as unpaid employees.

Berkeley Homes are seeking permission for 1,400 housing units on blocks up to 16 storeys high.

It's an increase of 600 from their original 'masterplan' for Phase 6, which is alongside the Bexleyheath line west of Kidbrooke Park Road.

This final phase of their Kidbrooke estate will bring the total units to over 6,000.

Five large blocks on Kidbrooke Park Road in Phase 5 are currently under construction.
